Survivability-Vulnerability Discipline Group overview:

The Pratt & Whitney engineering organization is focused on delivering customer requirements, advancing market-differentiating technologies, leading continuous improvement and developing technical leadership. Pratt and Whitney is also the home to a world-class Survivability Engineering Group consisting of IR, RCS, and Vulnerability disciplines. Team members often work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and interact with various disciplines at Pratt & Whitney.

The Survivability Discipline Group is currently seeking a Vulnerability engineer to join a team of engineers working in a collaborative environment with Program Management, Design CIPTs/IPTs, Customers, and Government Agencies to ensure the propulsion systems are survivable in combat environments. The candidate will have the responsibility of supporting the product development cycle that include requirements development, chemical, biological, and radiological susceptibility analyses, ballistic vulnerability analyses, requirements verification, and live fire testing. Perform analytical simulation, interpretation of results, and perform trade studies of survivability enhancement features to minimize Weapon Systems vulnerability and to incorporate vulnerability reduction features to minimize system impacts. Collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines to ensure compliance activities are executed to Pratt & Whitney and Industry Methodologies.

Education

B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

Experience/Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or with teams.
  • General background in propulsion systems design.
  • Working knowledge and experience of NX, SolidWorks or compatible CAD software.
  • Working knowledge and experience of Hypermesh a plus.
  • US Citizenship required.

Applicant is expected to travel to Government facilities, suppliers, test sites, and require close coordination of activities and results with Government counterparts and Industry experts. Secret security clearance or higher or the ability to obtain a security clearance is required to accomplish work activities.
