Manager, Publication Systems

Have you considered what it may be like to join our team and bring your career to Pratt & Whitney?

The Digital Transformation & Analytics (DT&A) group provides an effective interface between Pratt & Whitneyâ€s Military Engine business and the Pratt & Whitney Information Technology organization. In this role, DT&A is expected to help transform the ME business through the use of software and analytics. This transformation will be conducted by translating business requirements into actionable IT projects, monitoring the execution of these projects, and creating experimental prototypes of these systems to help reduce risk. DT&A also has responsibility for the maintenance and development of specialized data systems needed for a variety of business functions including Forecasting, Tech Data Management, Provisioning, and the acquisition and redistribution of a variety of data associated with Pratt & Whitneyâ€s Military Engines.

DT&A has been growing rapidly over the last few years and requires additional supervisory staff in order to maintain reasonable levels of oversight and guidance for its employees. Your project management, leadership, and interpersonal skills will be critical in guiding a small (5 to 10) person team in this growing environment. Your primary responsibility is to provide hands-on interaction with members of the team, providing technical and career guidance in addition to routine administrative functions. You will be responsible for guiding this team to the completion of annual roadmap objectives, compliance with ITC, training, and ACE requirements, and successful production of routine deliverables. As a leader within the organization you will help harness ACE tools and emerging IT capabilities to improve processes within Military Engines. The selected candidate will be expected to demonstrate technical competence and leadership and be able to function as a fully capable member of the team, but also needs to be able to delegate tasks to the staff and enable them to perform effectively.

This position is specifically focused on the management of the Publication Systems team within DT&A. The majority of time for this position is spent performing all supervisory functions including performance reviews, employee development, terminations, hiring, budget planning & execution.

Although goals will be achieved through performance of direct and/or indirect reports, this position takes responsibility for the quality of the products produced by the team.

This team is responsible for the maintenance of the various software systems needed to create and publish the Technical Documents for all P&W engines (Commercial & Military). In this role, experience with Corena and other Tech Pubs software, as well as familiarity with the full suite of P&W products will be quite useful. Technical capability with HTML, XML, SGML, Python, and S1000D will help to understand and assess the work being performed by the team. Strong analytical skills are critical.
