Job Description
We are looking for talented and passionate engineers to join our team.

The Engineering organization at Pratt & Whitney is divided into four Module Centers, including Hot Section, Compression and Mechanical Systems, Fans and Externals, and Product Delivery. The Module Centers are a world-class engineering organization, aligned by component-level hardware in different sections of the jet engine. The four module centers work in tandem to deliver Pratt and Whitney's trademark Dependable Engines.
Responsibilities include:
Experienced structures engineers will provide technical & analytical support for commercial or military programs, with responsibility for the durability and structural integrity of engine components. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue, or thermal analysis.

They will be expected to provide analytical results and technical solutions from preliminary design through engine development, validation, certification, manufacturing and operational service; participate on multi-discipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weight; and plan and cover validation testing (engine & rig) and data-reduction.

Other duties include supporting production and in-service field investigations, as well as using Finite-element and classical methods to perform strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, damage tolerance, containment, kinematic and optimization analyses. Lastly, experienced structures engineers will coordinate with others to advance the technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods, plus document and present results to management and external customers.

Experienced structures engineers will be exposed to the exciting world of materials and structural engineering at Pratt & Whitney.

You will be responsible for the structural assessments of repairs to Commercial & Military engine Airfoils components, knowledge of IPD, Structures ESW, & the Product Design Review process. You will coordinate structural analysis requirements for repairs with module centers/CIPT's. You will work independently on structural analysis solutions when historical solutions are not available or applicable.

GSE structures provides a work environment that fosters increased development of engineering fundamentals with knowledge development of Fracture Mechanics and FEA (ANSYS) modeling, as well as good engineering judgment, with an eye on "common sense". You will need to be able to technically manage low cost outsourcing.

This is an opportunity to work on P&W's NGPF program.
Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering
  • 7 years of engineering experience
  • US citizenship is required due to government program requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrated organization skills and strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Possess excellent judgment and professional maturity
