The Military Customer Support & Services (MCS&S) organization is the primary technical interface to Pratt & Whitney's military warfighter customers. Through daily interaction and dedication to our customer's operational needs and requirements, we work to fulfill our mission to "provide world class customer support and services, enabling our customers to carry out their missions safely, reliably, and affordably."

We currently have a high-impact opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated data scientist who is familiar with, or can quickly become familiar with our military customer as well as our internal business operations. This Data Scientist will work with MCS&S leadership to identify inefficiencies in existing management, monitoring and reporting processes, and devise a digital approach to improving and streamlining these processes by developing tools which provide quick and easy access to data. This self-starting individual should possess a suite of math, science and statistics technical skills, along with demonstrated practical applications in software development and IT solutions. Along with this technical knowledge and ability, it is also essential that the candidate develops a thorough understanding of MCS&S business processes through personal investigation, interviews and on-the-job-training, thus making the candidate's personal communication skills, teamwork and desire to learn, extremely important.

Duties include:

  • Work as key contributor to Military Engines Digital Strategy Team to implement business solutions used to manage our military fleet.
  • Work with the Discipline Chief organization to identify and implement methods of streamlining MCS&S business tools and processes.
  • Work with MCS&S leadership to improve/automate business monitoring solutions and process metric generation.


Bachelor degree

Basic Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience developing software, to include:
    • Experience working with MS Office, specifically including Access, Excel, and VBA.
  • Due to our government contracts, all applicants must be US Citizens

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Documenting and working in a team environment.
  • SQL, Python, Hadoop (and related tools).
  • Tools for data visualization (Qlik, Tableau, Spotfire, etc.).
  • Web-based software development (FLASK, Restful interfaces, Microservers, etc.)
  • Database development (Oracle, etc.).
  • Experience with Agile development teams (GIT, Zenhub, JIRA, etc.).
