We are looking for talented and passionate engineers to join our team. The Mechanical Systems Engineering organization at Pratt & Whitney is one of the four Module Centers, which also include Hot Section Engineering, Compression Systems, Fans and Externals, and Product Delivery. These Module Centers are an elite engineering organization, aligned by component-level hardware in different sections of the jet engine. They work in tandem to deliver Pratt and Whitney's trademark Dependable Engines. Mechanical Systems Engineering is responsible for the design, analysis and validation of the Bearing Compartments, Fan Drive Gear System, Bearing, Oil Seal, Accessory Gearbox & Oil Tank components that are an integral part of a Jet Engine. We currently have multiple opportunities in the Design discipline, either supporting GTF products or AETP military. Mechanical Systems Designers own all technical aspects of parts and/or modules from initial concept, thru detailed design and reviews, into manufacturing and test.
The Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for performing the following activities:
- Designing conceptual and detailed component and modules.
- Development and implementation of design improvements to hardware in order to improve product cost.
- Working with manufacturing to eliminate producibilty issues and obstacles.
- Supporting field investigations and drive corrective action.
- Supporting development and/or production build and test activity.
- Contributing to the organization's continuous improvement initiatives.
The position will afford the possibility to develop multidisciplinary skills, gain hands-on experience on a variety of mechanical components, and make significant contributions to some of PW's most exciting engine programs.
Education / Certifications
- B.S. in Mechanical engineering or Aerospace engineering
- M.S. in engineering a plus
Experience/Qualifications Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering is required
- 4+ years of design engineering experience with B.S.
- 2+ years of design engineering experience with M.S.
- Proficiency in Unigraphics and TeamCenter, or other solid modeling software such as Solidworks or Catia
- Experience in gas turbine design engineering
- Demonstrated ability to oversee a design start-to-finish
