Job Description
Pratt & Whitney, a recognized leading producer of the world's most advanced commercial and military turbine engines, is seeking talented engineers to join our organization between January and August 2018. This Engineering Development Program (EDP) position is within Pratt & Whitney's Materials & Processes Engineering organization based in East Hartford, Connecticut. The Materials & Processes EDP is a three-year rotational program comprising 3-4 assignments from 6-12 months in duration. Based on your interests and business needs rotations may occur in the disciplines of:

  • Materials development (alloys, coatings, polymer/composite materials and advanced materials)
  • Materials characterization (chemical, microstructural, etc.)
  • Failure analysis
  • Non-destructive evaluation
  • Experimental mechanics (statics, vibrations, mechanical test)
  • Production of cast engine components
  • Material applications
  • Data Analysis
  • Business Development Throughout the EDP you will be responsible for supporting commercial and military programs to address various materials and chemical processing needs. These programs encompass testing and validating environmentally friendly materials and processes, material/chemical compatibility, testing turbine engine alloys and qualification of external suppliers performing specialized operations. Specific tasks may include metallurgical testing and evaluation, pilot testing of chemical processes and coating property analysis (e.g. corrosion, wear, hardness, thickness etc.). The EDP participant will also document and analyze data/results, prepare reports, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on their findings. Education / Certifications A bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering or Chemical Engineering (to be earned during the 2017-8 calendar year) with a minimum 3.0 grade point average is required for this position. Experience / Qualifications Interest in building a technical or management career in applied materials development and materials/hardware characterization. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Strong technical writing skills and demonstrated ability to effectively present technical data. Demonstrated experience working effectively in teams as both a leader and a participant.

    Experience/Qualifications
