As a Repair Source Approvals (RSA) Engineer, you will be responsible for reviewing and approving a range of processes utilized in the repair of aftermarket hardware, including: coatings, chemical processes, joining processes, and machining and surface enhancement. This position will focus primarily on approval of coatings (e.g. plasma spray and HVOF, EB-PVD, CatArc, and diffusion) and related processes (e.g. cleaning, grit blasting, chemical and waterjet stripping), or machining and surface finishing process, depending upon the candidate's background and experience. Other repair processes, including welding and brazing, adhesive bonding, bearing manufacturing and refurbishment, and chemical processing (e.g. plating and stripping ), will be considered.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:

  • Review and qualification of suppliers' repair processes for both commercial and military hardware to ensure that they meet the requirements of DER-approved technical data
  • Addressing various material and processing needs, as well as evaluation of gas turbine engine hardware and materials
  • Review of detailed process-specific operation sheets, process monitoring, non-destructive evaluation, destructive metallurgical testing and evaluation of engine hardware, pilot testing of chemical processes, and material property analysis
  • Analysis and documentation of data/results to substantiate qualification of processes, preparation of reports, and generation standard work

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience in a materials processing,  manufacturing, quality, and/or process approval role OR Master's Degree and 3+ years of experience in a materials processing,  manufacturing, quality, and/or process approval role
  • US citizenship required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with coatings and related processing , or experience in machining and surface finishing; experience with bearing manufacturing/refurbishment, joining, chemical processing, and adhesive bonding will also be considered
  • Prior aftermarket experience
  • Knowledge of Pratt & Whitney design and quality systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with associates at all levels of the organization
  • A highly motivated self-starter with a strong desire to succeed and pursue continued growth and developmental opportunities.
