We are looking for a dynamic Industrial Engineer in Columbus, GA. Industrial engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the optimization of complex processes or systems. It involves driving efficiency, reducing costs, improving the quality of the products and services we provide, as well as improving the safety and ergonomics within our facilities. This role is key to Pratt & Whitney's operational transformation!

In this role you will support the manufacturing of aerospace engines with projects related to safety, quality, efficiency, productivity and cost. This includes the application of lean manufacturing techniques, human factors, logistics and production planning and control.

Responsibilities:

  • Implementing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Overall Labor Effectiveness (OOE) initiatives within manufacturing operations
  • Calculating machine and labor requirements, capacity, and inventory needs
  • Improving work cell design and process flow, utilize structured problem solving methodology to improve capacity constrained work areas
  • Improving manufacturing visual management, participate in and lead kaizen events
  • Conducting time studies to create and maintain manufacturing standards
  • Developing and maintaining process maps, value stream maps, and standard work documents
  • Learning and applying new concepts while keeping current with state of the art techniques
  • Provide strategic direction for systems, projects, and programs to maximize efficiency of manufacturing, staffing and delivering products including internal and external manufacturing sources
  • Utilize factory simulations to perform "what if" scenarios, explore process bottlenecks and develop manufacturing strategies
  • Establish critical control points in the value stream to ensure that products meet financial planning, quality standards, and customer demand rates


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering OR Master's Degree and 3+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified or ACE Associate
  • Experience with OEE and OLE/OOE
  • Previous Experience in IE Software Suites
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Experience in work measurements, line balancing and capacity management
  • Working knowledge of production schedules, engineering specifications, material flow, and lean manufacturing principles
  • Reliability, willingness to learn, attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to work in a fast pace manufacturing environment
  • Proven root cause solving capability
  • Ability to work and interact with all levels of an organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to data mine through multiple information systems
  • Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems
  • Ability to meet commitments, balance and resolve conflicting priorities
  • High energy, dynamic individual who strives for continuous improvement
  • Results focused work ethic to resolve issues in a timely manner
