Department overview

The Materials & Processes Engineering Development Program (EDP) is a three-year rotational program comprising 3-4 assignments from 6-12 months in duration. MPE's EDP offers B.S./M.S. college hire candidates with an opportunity to work on meaningful projects driven by current P&W engine requirements.

Based on your interests and business needs rotations may occur in the disciplines of:

  • Materials development (alloys, coatings, polymer/composite materials and advanced materials)
  • Materials characterization (mechanical, chemical, microstructural, etc.)
  • Failure analysis
  • Non-destructive evaluation
  • Experimental mechanics (statics, vibrations, mechanical test)
  • Process chemistry and surface engineering
  • Production of cast engine components
  • Material applications
  • Clearances and tribological materials
  • Data analysis
  • Business development

Key Roles & Responsibilities Throughout the EDP you will be responsible for supporting commercial and military programs to address various component and materials testing and analysis needs. These programs may involve performing a wide variety of test types on turbine engine alloys and components, analyzing failures, qualifying and coordinating with external suppliers, and developing new test methods. The EDP participant will also document and analyze data and results, prepare reports, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on their findings.

Basic Qualifications
  • US Citizenship is required .
  • You have a GPA of 3.25 or higher
  • You are graduating in Dec 2019 or May 2020
  • Fields of study are Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Applied Physics

Preferred Qualifications
  • Entry-level co-op/internship experience
