This is 2nd shift working 3pm-11:30pm and must be able to work weekends. This will pay a 10% shift premium.

  • Perform routine to complex nondestructive testing (NDT) to include florescent penetrant, sonic and eddy current, magnetic particle, and type test inspection operations necessary to inspect a variety of parts.
  • Work from approved technical data, recognized methods and procedures, applicable specifications, operation and inspection methods sheets, and engineering drawings, to plan, set up for, and perform inspection operations to detect material type, surface and subsurface defects, and irregularities to determine degree of bonding, wall thickness, and coating or plating thicknesses.
  • Select appropriate inspection process and determine proper method, if not specified. Clean or otherwise process parts for magnetic particle (MPI), fluorescent penetrant (FPI), and other forms of NDI. Select or develop appropriate holding devices, determine current settings compatible with size, shape, and type of parts, and modify and fabricate fixtures and coils to accommodate new, unusual, or irregularly shaped parts. Visually inspect parts for material defects and irregularities. Witness selection and application of accessories required for pressure tests and visually check tests for any leakage.
  • Plan, set up, and operate eddy current, sonic, thermal electric, and magnetic equipment to conduct tests ranging from routine to complicated. Determine coating and material thickness, alloy type, and other similar material inspection tests. Assist higher grade inspector with more difficult and complex inspection operations.
  • For all tests, differentiate between serious and minor defects and accept or reject material based on applicable standards. Segregate all material with questionable defects and disposition accordingly. Fill out Quality Review Orders, or applicable documentation, and mark parts, scope, or chart to show indications of defects and to dispose of unacceptable parts. Complete and stamp all required paperwork to acknowledge accepted parts.
  • Perform all of the above functions in other areas or facilities when necessary. Perform other related nondestructive test duties of a comparable or lower skill level as required to facilitate inspection operations.


Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Requires successful completion of specialized training courses, proficiency in alloy type and pressure test inspection, and certification for fluorescent penetrant, eddy current, sonic wall thickness and surface wave inspection, magnetic particle, and acid etch as required.
  • 2+ years of experience
  • US Citizen due to Govt contracts


Preferred Qualifications:

  • NDT certification preferred
  • Well-rounded knowledge of fluorescent penetrant, ultrasonic and eddy current, magnetic particle, acid etch, and pressure test practices, procedures, and applications as related to nondestructive test inspection and determination of the types and causes of material defects.
  • Ability to make applicable calculations according to established formulas and work from specifications and inspection standard and methods sheets.
  • Should have basic knowledge of alloy type and material defect characteristics.
