Materials & Processes Engineering (MPE) is a comprehensive, materials-focused engineering organization that supports all aspects of P&W business, including technology and product development, validation and certification, worldwide manufacturing, aftermarket and field support for all P&W products.
MPE provides vital materials technologies and support to P&W and our External Customers throughout the product lifecycle. This includes the development of materials; and their related manufacturing processes; development of aftermarket processes; support of engine design and validation activities; performing testing for validation and certification of materials and components; and supporting the engine fleet with comprehensive failure analysis, non-destructive evaluation, and associated materials characterization services. We also maintain rapid prototyping capability for production of investment castings.
An internship in MPE Clearance & Tribological Materials group will involve supporting sub-component mechanical testing, large file data processing and analysis utilizing Python code, supporting development of physics-based analytical models in application to novel coatings, and supporting development of advanced Thermal Plasma-Spray coatings for gas turbine engine applications.
Do you meet these Basic Qualifications?
- US Citizenship is required due to government contracts .
- You're in an accredited undergraduate or graduate engineering degree program.
- Fields of study: Materials Science or Applied Physics
- You will have at least 30 credits prior to starting your internship
- GPA above 3.8
How about any of these Preferred Qualifications?
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and consistent record of collaboration, flexibility, innovation and initiative
- Strong programming skills (MatLab, Mathematica, Python)
